Ocean Friendly Maui Vacation Rentals at Maui Kai

At Maui Kai we care about the natural environment that surrounds us and protecting our iconic Maui beaches like Kaanapali. To show our support, our Maui vacation rentals are the first to voluntarily take the Ocean-Friendly Property Pledge.

You can read about this on the West Maui Kumuwai website which is a partnership with the West Maui Ridge to Reef Initiative. A recent on-site visit by both organizations to Maui Kai found numerous practices that make us one of the most ocean-friendly of all Maui resorts.

Maui Kai Now Designated an Ocean Friendly Property.

Practical Landscaping. Look around and you’ll see very little bare soil. That’s because we use rocks in our landscaping to prevent erosion while reducing the need for water.

Better Directed Downspouts. Runoff is reduced with water directed into vegetated areas.

No Storm Drains Lead to Ocean. Design of the Maui Kai property ensures that drainage is manageable.

Sinks Connect to Sanitary Sewer System. Pool water is disposed of into this system as well.

Runoff Water Plans. Future developments at Maui Kai include installation of curb cuts and semipermeable pavers with the replacement of our sidewalk.
