4 Fun Ways to Explore Maui

4 Fun Ways to Explore Maui

There are many different ways to get around the island during a visit to our Hawaii condos. Some people opt to rent a motor vehicle, hike, mountain bike, surf or take a ride on horseback. Others prefer to see the sights perched atop an electric or human powered vehicle. For those of you that favor the electric vehicles and unique cycles, here’s a look at four great options:

1. Electric Bicycles

Electric powered bicycles are one of the many transportation options to consider. There are companies near our Hawaii condos that offer rentals as well as self guided tour opportunities. One that comes to our minds is Pedego Maui. They are located in Lahaina on Keawe Street. Their bikes are suitable for multiple riders and can reach speeds up to 20 mph. Plus, you don’t have to be tremendously fit to ride one for hours at a time.

2. Trikke Carving Vehicles

If you long to surf or skateboard but feel like you don’t have enough balance to pull it off, try getting around Maui on a Trikke Carving Vehicle. It’s a 3-point, single rider vehicle that allows individuals to stand up and ride through the area at speeds up to 13 mph. Because it is a 3-point system, using the vehicles doesn’t require a lot of balancing skills. However, you will need to be able to withstand being upright for extended periods of time.

3. ElliptiGO Outdoor Cycles

Do you count yourself among the fittest people in the bunch? Well then, you may want to trade the electric bikes in for human powered, ElliptoGo cycles instead. Be forewarned though, you’re definitely going to break a sweat on these babies. They operate similar to an elliptical machine and can reach speeds up to 20 mph. Of course how fast you go really depends on your muscle strength and determination. To rent one, check out places like Segway Maui. They too are located in Lahaina. Look for their offices on Limahana Place.

4. Segway PTs

Last on our list is the Segway PT. They’ve been around for years. So you are likely to already be familiar with them. But just in case you’re not, they are electric powered vehicles that are driven while standing up. Unlike the Trikke Carving Vehicles or cycles we mentioned previously, both of the rider’s feet sit on a single platform. That said, they aren’t terribly hard to operate and can reach speeds up to 12.5 mph.
